  • William Rushing and his construction company came to our attention when we decided to build a room over a small, dingy, unused patio at the rear of our home on The Plantation on Amelia Island. An acquaintance introduced us to William who, in turn, recommended an architectural company that could turn ideas and concepts into a workable plan.

    We met William, and he is an impressive man; tall, blondish, soft-spoken and extremely knowledgeable in the field of construction. He has an aura about him that elicits respect which he readily returns to people who sincerely want a polished, finished product.

    Once the final plans were approved, a contract signed and work began the entire country, and significant parts of the world, slowed to a creep under the breaking effect of Covid. I began to have bad dreams of an abandoned construction site, littered with "stuff" that would never be used and would require transportation to a land fill. William's group slowed for a week or so then went back to work as they were able to get the lumber and other required materials delivered in spite of Covid.

    In just a couple of months we were presented with a beautiful, 700 square foot room with a high-beamed ceiling, unstoppable windows and finish work that was unblemished. It would be an understatement to say we were pleased. We were, and still are, amazed at the transition it made to our little house in the woods.

    When we decided to build a new home in the city of Fernandina Beach, on Amelia Island, there was no question. We had to use the Rushing Construction Company.   • Since Rushing Construction so successfully completed an extension to our Amelia Island Plantation house, it was a simple decision to use them for our new home build. The whole team from Laurie the Office Manager, Doug the Superintendent to Beth, the Project Manager, have been fantastic to work with. The dedicated team and skilled artisan builders are a joy to work with. Trey Amidon of Amidon Architecture has great vision. In our build we are including a very specific sport/hobby room which requires high end ventilation and noise compression. Since it is a complicated design, my husband and William flew out to the material vendor to make sure all the details were taken care of. This is an energetic and dynamic company that delivers. Top tip....book your new build or renovation project early because they are in demand.
